The Turanza EL400-02 and Turanza EL400 w/UNI-T are Bridgestone's Standard Touring All-Season tires developed to meet the Original Equipment and replacement tire needs of drivers for their sporty coupes, sedans and vans. Turanza EL400 tires are designed to provide a luxury appearance, long wear and responsive handling along with dry, wet and year-round traction, even inlight snow. Bridgestone's Ultimate Network of Intelligent Tire Technology (UNI-T) features three core elements: CO'CS, a Computer Optimized Component System which allows design and manufacturing processes to work more cooperatively, leading to a more effective tire that doesn't significantly sacrifice one area of performance for improvements in another; O-Bead, a rounder bead structure that minimizes overlapped joints in the bead area for improved ride; and L.L. Carbon (Long Link Carbon) which helps the rubber compound resist microscopic tread tearing related to wear. On the outside, Turanza EL400 tires features their tread rubber compound molded into a symmetric tread design with straight circumferential grooves to balance dry and wet road traction with noise comfort and hydroplaning resistance. On the inside, the Turanza EL400 features twin steel belts for strength and stability with a polyester cord body to enhance ride comfort.

This was the OE tire for my 2007 Camry SE. I'm at 38500 miles and have 4 to 5 32's left. I don't take a chance with hydroplaning so I replace at this point. Also I regularly hit 100MPH and don't want to take a chance with a blow-out. I've been very happy with the tire, except for snow - it was terrible. As such I figured I'd try a "better" tire. I just bought the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity because it was #2 rated. Given that the Turanza EL-400-02's were so poorly rated by users I figured the Serenity would be fantastic. I was wrong. In easy driving they are good - quiet, good handling, etc. However in spirited driving -- heavy corners or fast maneuvers -- they felt unsettled. It was amazing how mushy they felt. It was like they would "load up" in the maneuver and then spring back causing strange body motions. The sharp, precision steering I coveted was gone. I never felt that with the OE Turanza EL-400's. I checked the Serenity's and they were at the recommended 32 PSIA so I increased them to 34 to 35 PSIA. No improvement. I checked Bridgestone's site and found their warranty includes a "30 Day Try-and-Buy". Luckily the installer honored it and I'll be changing to new EL-400's for no charge. So I've learned to be wary of the Tire Rack customer reviews. My theory is that if someone didn't like the snow performance then maybe they rate the entire tire poorly. I don't know, but the OE Turanza EL-400 is for me. I did learn that many tires have a "professional" test report on this site with quantitative ratings. Look for the "Test" tab for a report.
