Tire Description

The Potenza RE070 is Bridgestone's Extreme Performance Summer tire developed for Original Equipment use in sizes for 2004-2007 all-wheel drive Subaru Impreza WRX STI performance sedans, as well as 2008-2009 Honda S2000 CR (Club Racer) sports cars. While designed to combine predictable handling on the street with extreme dry traction on the track, the Potenza RE070, like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. The Potenza RE070 features a high-grip tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design to combine handling with traction. Semi-Slick outboard shoulder blocks and several continuous inboard ribs enhance initial responsiveness and increase lateral stiffness to reduce the irregular wear that can occur during hard cornering. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to blend high-speed durability with uniform ride quality.

Ill start off saying that this is a High Performance Summer tire and should be looked at as such. All of the people that got them as stock on Subaru STi are either fortunate or unfortunate, but if youre getting STi your concern should not be a ride comfort. This tire is OUTSTANDING. In the it outperforms most of the tires on the market wit the exception of R compounds. It has great cornering stability and responsivenness. If you think they are noisy and have poor ride quality, well maybe you shouldnt get the performance tire, just get the touring instead but dont expect the same characteristics. You need to sacrifice something. If grip and performance is more important to you, get this tire. Also Subaru was never meant to be a drag racing car so people should quit whinning about poor performance from "light to light". This tire is very stiff, in fact my local tire guy had big problems taking the tire off and putting it back on. It took him about 20 minutes and other person to help in order to get the tire off the rim lol. Yes they are uncomfortable and noisy but Im willing to sacrifice these characteristics to get the best grip possible. Tire wear is really good for a tire like this. I did many autox events on this tire plus about 18000 miles of spirited driving with hard cornering around town, and still have aobout half of the thread left. You just need to know the tire limit and dont push it over it. Autox performance is also very good. Just wam up the tire properly and learn not to "overdrive" it and youll get great times.
