The Potenza RE050A Pole Position RFT is designed to combine athletic capabilities on the street along with temporary extended mobility for a distance of 50 miles at up to 50 mph even in the event a puncture allows complete air pressure loss. Like all summer tires, the Potenza RE050A Pole Position RFT is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. The Potenza RE050A Pole Position RFT features a high-silica content tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design with stable shoulder elements, large tread blocks and a continuous center rib on the outboard side to provide responsive handling and traction on dry roads, while wide circumferential and lateral tread grooves pump water out from under the tire's footprint to enhance hydroplaning resistance and aid wet traction. Another continuous circumferential rib adjacent to the inboard shoulder blocks enhances wear quality to help reduce noise throughout the life of the tire, especially on cars with alignment settings that specify negative camber. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon to stabilize the tread area and enhance high-speed capability, as well as Bridgestone self-supporting run-flat technology specifically tuned to support the Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZO6 even after a puncture causes a complete loss of air pressure. Click For Price Customer Reviews My OEM Goodyear RunFlats lasted 14,500 miles down to the tread wear indicators in back and about 1/32 above in front. I don't do burnouts, went to one autocross school, but corner fairly hard with the headsup display reaching .99 once (usually too busy at that level to look) and often at .8 plus. The noise went from loud to annoyingly loud with mileage. Hydroplane resistance was awful, with the traction/stability control often working even when driven easily in a hard rain. The steering response was very direct. The Bridgestones are so much better overall. Hydroplane resistance is three ratings better than the GY's, and almost as good as non high performance tires on a sedan. Tread noise is way better than the GY's ever were. Now I don't have to turn the radio volume down when I stop the car for a traffic light; the tire noise before almost made listening to the radio, especially on a concrete surface, impossible. The steering response is slower than the GY's, but linear which is not all bad as I believe that some of the hits on the Z06 (by car magazines like C&D) were precipitated by the quick steering on the GY's. That and the harshness of the GY's on a bumpy surface made the rear more likely to come around. Although I've had a chance to drive these Bridgestones on a race track fast in a few corners, I can't get the headup display to the g level of the GY's, though the car seems to stick with the same feeling of sideload. Maybe the slower steering response of the Bridgestones has some effect on the g meter calibration or maybe that causes the stability control to kick in sooner limiting the actual g's. I don't turn off the stab. control on public roads and forgot to do it on the few laps of a racetrack I was on (in convoy). The wear number on the Bridgestones is higher than the GY's (280 vs 200) so I hope they last longer. The GY's may be better for autocrossing on a dry surface, but the Bridgestones are a way better all around tire for the car. Write a review of Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position RFT Tires |
